With Thanksgiving nearly upon us, the team at PRRS wants to pause, reflect, and celebrate along with the millions of families getting ready for a long weekend filled with warmth, laughter, and—of course—some truly impressive feasting. As we move toward one of America’s most cherished holidays, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone connected to our organization: our employees, partners, clients, and the many communities we serve every day.
This week brings with it something special. It’s not just a holiday—it’s a moment built around reconnection. For many, Thanksgiving marks the only time all year when extended families gather under one roof. Kitchens grow loud; living rooms fill with football games and parades playing in the background; college students return home and reunite with friends they haven’t seen since summer; and households everywhere exchange the quiet joys of ritual and togetherness. The entire country seems to inhale and exhale at the same pace for a few days, settling into memories, good food, and good company.
For all of us at PRRS, this spirit resonates deeply. Our work depends on cooperation, trust, respect, and communication—values that mirror the heart of Thanksgiving. It reminds us that progress doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in partnership. And this season gives us an opportunity to acknowledge how much we appreciate those relationships.
Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday across the nation for good reason. It’s one of the rare holidays that asks nothing from us except to pause and appreciate what we already have. No pressure to shop for the perfect gift. No expectation of elaborate decorations. No long checklists—just a table, a meal, and the comfort of community. It’s an annual reminder that gratitude isn’t only an emotion; it’s a practice.
The very origins of the holiday reflect the value of recognizing abundance instead of scarcity, coming as it did from a 1621 harvest feast shared by the Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag people. It has evolved into a moment when all of us, regardless of background, choose to be present with one another. And that spirit—of showing up, of sharing food, of choosing connection—is universal.
Even beyond the big family gathering, Thanksgiving has sprouted new traditions. “Friendsgiving,” takes the heart of the holiday and makes space for a chosen family as well with smaller gatherings that are nonetheless just as heartfelt. They remind us that gratitude can be shared in many circles and many forms.
And then, of course, there’s everything else that comes with the weekend:
• Football games that become annual family events
• Kitchens buzzing with activity with televised parades in the background
• The busiest bar night of the year on Thanksgiving Eve, when hometown friends reconnect
• And for some, the late-night Black Friday tradition, which unofficially kicks off the holiday shopping season
But even with these familiar rituals, Thanksgiving maintains something refreshingly simple at its core. It’s the only four-day weekend we get to share together as a nation, and we intend to take it seriously—not in a formal sense, but because we know how valuable uninterrupted time with loved ones truly is. For many of us, Thanksgiving outshines even Christmas in terms of togetherness. The day isn’t about gifts or elaborate plans; it’s about the rare chance to sit down across from people you care about and focus on connection.
Food, too, is a language of gratitude. Turkeys roasted, smoked, or fried. Hams glazed and carved. Potatoes prepared in every imaginable way. Casseroles, vegetables, fruit salads, pies, and desserts that appear only once a year. Preparations are already underway and no doubt have been for a while depending on how many guests your household is expecting! There’s nothing like the bounty of a Thanksgiving table, laden with dozens of dishes, it’s a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! These meals become memories—simple but powerful expressions of hospitality, care, and tradition.
And when the plates are cleared and leftovers stacked in the fridge, the weekend continues with an unmistakable feeling: the sense that you’re still celebrating. Thanksgiving is the holiday that lingers, not only because the meals stretch into the following days, but because the atmosphere changes. Christmas lights begin to glow, the season’s first music plays softly in the background, and the world starts to feel like the opening scene of a holiday story. For many, that transition is the true “American holiday moment”—the cozy blend of gratitude and anticipation that marks the weeks ahead.
At PRRS, we value that feeling deeply. Our work, while often fast-paced and detail-driven, is ultimately about service. It’s about supporting the flow of communities, ensuring accessibility, fostering safety, and helping neighborhoods and businesses operate smoothly. We rely on teamwork—within our company and with the organizations we serve. Thanksgiving reminds us that none of that is possible without people coming together, contributing their strengths, and supporting one another.
So, as we head into this long weekend, we want to express our profound appreciation. Thank you to our staff for your dedication, professionalism, and steady commitment to integrity. Thank you to our clients and partners for trusting us and collaborating with us day after day. Thank you to the communities we support for welcoming us into your daily lives and allowing us to contribute to your safety and convenience.
Whether you are traveling across the country, hosting a house full of relatives, enjoying a quiet meal at home, or gathering with friends, we wish you a peaceful, joyful, and deeply meaningful Thanksgiving. May your tables be full, your homes warm, and your time with loved ones restorative.
From all of us at PRRS—Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy a wonderful long weekend.
